What a Weekend

Wow! What a weekend, you would think I was 21 instead of 41. Started out Friday night with happy hour at the Wall Street Cantina downtown, love that place! Hanging out with Rich, Jeff and Damian (Just met him, Jeff's boss). Great fun, relaxing, good drinks and chips and queso. Then a shift change happened, Jeff and Damian left and we met Craig out on Central Blvd. We first walked to Church to see if a bar we had visited was still there, it wasn't bummer... so we then walked back to Central (though the opposite side that we were on previously) to check out Ember. Good choice. Indulged in some great food, a few more drinks, and good conversation. Then it was time for this 21 year old (I mean 41! Oops!) to go home and get some sleep. BIG weekend ahead.
Rich and Craig took me home, I went to bed! However, they walked down to Scruffy Murphy's to close the place! This is all before a 7:30 AM 5k that is taking place on Saturday. Maybe they are the 21 year olds and I am right were I need to be at 41!
6:30 AM Saturday morning was hard for all of us. Bekah, Rich, Craig and I all got up and were out the door by 7:00 AM. Luckily the race starting line was at the Orlando Science Center, which is close to the house.
Bekah, Rich and Craig did fantastic! I also did well, taking pictures. :)
Rich continues to beat his previous times, I guess all that daily running is paying off. He finished in just over 32 minutes. Whoo Hoo!
Then it was off to Singer Island (& West Palm Beach) for Rich and I to our favorite tiki bar (besides our own) to meet our friends for the Dave Matthew Band concert. We stayed at the Palm Beach Shores Resort and Vacation Villas. We checked in, met our friends at the tiki bar, walked on the beach and before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the concert!
Now it becomes interesting, previously at the Tiki Bar a question was asked, "Rich, do you think we should get ponchos for the concert? Not sure if our seats are covered or not, said Lori." "Nah, save your money for more drinks, said Rich." Fast forward to the drive to the concert...rain, rain and more rain! And although we were loving our taxi service to the concert, he could not take us all the way to the front of the amphitheatre, so... we got drenched! oh yes... drenched! We ultimately got our rain ponchos, after we purchased two new 'dry' t/shirts, on went the ponchos!
It was funny, we weren't too uncomfortable! I wonder what we will do next year, to buy ponchos or not to buy!?
Once we had our dry clothes, our drinks and some food, found our awesome seats we were ready for Dave. Do I have to even say how AWESOME the concert was... AWESOME! AMAZING! and so on...
Then it was back to the hotel for a quick hair and make up check and off we went to the local dive bar, Buddy's Cafe serving breakfast and drinks. That is another whole story in itself I don't even have time to go into. Got back to our hotel around 3:15AM, yes, 3:15 AM and back up at 9:30 AM for a check out at 10:00. It wasn't as painful as it sounds, about 4:00 PM is when the pain hit... we were exhausted.
Before we left Singer Island, we went to one of our favorite places the Sail Fish Marina.
We got back to Orlando about 4:30 PM, at 6:30 PM Bekah, Craig, Rich and I went to Dexter's in Thorton Park for a birthday dinner, and closed out the night with Fried Twinkies and S'mores at Hamburger Mary's!! Wow... what a weekend.
Thank you Rich and Bekah for my fantastic 41st birthday!
